Responsible scuba divers, snorkellers and spear fishermen who frequent Little Bay have long been aware of the large volume of human generated debris on the sea floor, particularly in the outer bay.
Now, the Sans Souci Dolphins Spearfishing Club, with the encouragement and hard work of Alex Sehring and Rob Cornelius, have organised a beach and underwater clean up event for 22 March 2020 at Little Bay.
Great prizes will be awarded to the three best rubbish divers – and the three best on-shore collectors; if you don’t have the skills or inclination to dive for rubbish, there will be plenty of opportunity to help with loading into a skip rubbish the divers bring ashore.
When: Sunday, 22 March, from around 8.00am till midday
Weigh in, prizes and other festivities: around 11am
Contact: Alex 0431 196 171
Please note: the event is now an official Clean Up Australia Day event. If you intend to participate, please register at the event page.

A huge Thank You to Alex Sehring and Rob Cornelius for organizing this community event!
While we are all on the beach, we are planning to have some discussion about issues that concern swimmers, sunbathers, parents and responsible scuba divers, snorkellers and spear fishermen:
- The ongoing “rape” of Little Bay’s intertidal zone by people who are taking illegal quantities of sea urchins and shellfish and turning over and damaging the rocky seabed in their relentless search for these creatures. Many of these people have not paid the compulsory NSW Recreational Fishing Fee.
- The failure of inexperienced and untrained spearfishers to abide by the code of conduct of the Australian Spearfishing Association:
Come and join us, get involved in the clean up and contribute to the discussion about how to make Little Bay a safer place and cleaner and more diverse marine environment for everyone.
